Karla Homolka Movie

When I first heard that this movies was even being made, I felt my stomach contract and could taste the vomit in the back of my throat. The events that this movie is based upon, are so sickening and evil, the thought of them being splashed upon the silver screen was revolting at best. Although to be fair, I have not seen this movie, however I have read articles by people who have. One such article was written by Alan Cairns of the Toronto Sun. He extensivley covered the Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka case. You can read this article here.

I won't go into the many details covered in that article, you can read it for yourself :) However, after reading this article, and many like it, I have made up my mind as to whether or not I will see this movie. The answer is no. Not even on video. I can remember as a teenager being horrified by these events as they were covered on the news. It sickens me to think that someone is profiting from romanticizing these events and placing them on the silver screen. I understand that others are going to feel differently about this than I, however I know I'm not alone seeing how many movie theatres in Canada are refusing to show this film. I hope that in the future movie makers can find a muse that doesn't inspire them to make films about such horrific, real life events, but to make films based on ideas from their own imaginations :)

Election Day In Canada

Today is election day. I, like so many of you, took my registered voter card to my local polling station, got my ballot, and cast my vote. This election I must admit I'm more scared of the potential fallout than I have in past elections. Now I'm not going to sit here and preach to you about who you should or should not vote for and why or why not. That side of it all boils down to personal opinion, and we can all sit here and debate the facts until the sun comes up.

The primary reason for this entry is for those of you who didn't vote today, or just voted for whomever someone else told you to vote for, because you don't really care. That attitude makes me, well, ill. If you didn't vote, I don't want to hear you complain the next time the government does something you don't like. As for those of you who didn't make up your own mind and just voted for who your friends or family voted for, all I can say is I feel ashamed of you. As a Canadian, having the right to vote in a democratic election is such a privilege. We have the freedom to vote for who we choose and to speak out against those we don't agree with. There are so many people in this world who do not get this privilege and who would die to have it, to not care to me is an insult to this great country.

Now I'm not saying sit up all night watching CSPAN and know every aspect of Canadian politics, let's face it, for the most part, it's kind of boring. However, educate yourself enough so that when election time comes, you can make your choice knowing that your vote represents your voice, not someone else's. It doesn't take much, reading a national newspaper, watching the news, picking up a few party platform flyers, or visiting the different party websites. Make it a point to care, because this is as much my country as it is yours and if we, the future of this country, remain apathetic, then our future is very bleak indeed.

I'm A Creep, I'm A Weirdo.....

Well, We've all heard songs that seem to touch us in deep personal ways. Sometimes the song reminds us of specific times in our lives, or they seem to speak about the exact way we are feeling at a given time. Music is very powerful in this way. I find a lot of my life's memories are connected to songs in some way, and when I'm feeling happy, sad or angry, there always seems to be a song that suits my mood. That brings us to why I'm making this post. I was listening to music earlier today and song came up on my playlist that suited my current mood perfectly and I just felt like sharing the lyrics with you all. The song is Creep by Radiohead:

When you were here before,
couldn't look you in the eye.
You're just like an angel,
your skin makes me cry.
You float like a feather,
in a beautiful world
I wish I was special,
you're so f*cking special.

But I'm a creep, I'm a weirdo.
What the hell am I doing here?
I don't belong here.

I don't care if it hurts,
I want to have control.
I want a perfect body,
I want a perfect soul.
I want you to notice,
when I'm not around.
You're so f*cking special,
I wish I was special.

But I'm a creep, I'm a weirdo.
What the hell am I doing here?.
I don't belong here

She's running out the door,
she's running,
she run, run, run, run, run.

Whatever makes you happy,
whatever you want.
You're so f*cking special,
I wish I was special,

but I'm a creep, I'm a weirdo.
What the hell am I doing here?
I don't belong here,
I don't belong here.
